How You Can Help!

Jane Doe Rising, Inc. has a need for donations in the following areas:

SANE Exam Clothing Kits

***As of October, 2024***

There is 1 Northeast TX Heathcare Facility & 1 South OK (TX Border) Private Women's Shelter on the waiting list to receive kits!  We need a total of 200 Kits.

This program collects and buys items to make clothing kits for victims following a SANE Exam.  Many women who go through this examination process turn their clothing and/or other belongings in to be sent for DNA testing and/or processed through evidence.  Unfortunately, there are some hospitals that are not able to keep items stocked to offer replacements when a victim is discharged.  No one should have to leave the hospital without undergarments or wearing something disposable.  In some instances, a victim may choose to turn their clothing over directly to a law enforcement agency taking their report.  When possible, we also provide these kits to any law enforcement agency which makes a request for them.  We are only able to accept brand new items WITH the tags still attached.  Please keep in mind that our survivors are not all equal in size.  We need sizing in every item from XS to 5X.

These are some of the things we need and put into our kits:

ALWAYS in the SANE Kits:

  • Bras - Wired, unwired, sports bras, adjustable straps, patterned or solid with minimal lace or "glitz".
  • Underwear - Full Coverage (no thongs, g-strings or v-strings)

SOMETIMES in the SANE Kits:

  • Pants or shorts - No denim. Think comfort, loose yoga style, joggers, stretch, cotton, sweatpants etc.
  • Short & Long sleeve shirts - Relaxed or loose fitting, patterned or solid, fabric that isn't too thick.

Monetary donations are also appreciated to help with the costs of supplies to put kits together, the purchase of items low in stock and packaging/parcel costs to have them delivered or shipped when necessary.

Monetary donations can be made directly to the Jane Doe Rising, Inc. PayPal Account or by check written out to "Jane Doe Rising, Inc.".  (Verify us using our primary phone number: 682-556-7983) We are a PayPal verified Nonprofit, Charity Organization!

Other Needs

There are always other costs associated with providing direct services to our clients.  Although essentially "small", they add up!  Donations make a profound impact on our ability to provide additional support in the following ways:

  • Rides (gas) to and from medical/other appointments, therapy, court and/or law enforcement related meetings, job or work readiness training or coaching, interviews etc.
  • General Supplies - Advocates have a responsibility to keep clients informed and provide access to records and materials at all times.  We also act on behalf of the victims we serve to send in paperwork and applications when necessary for Victim Compensation and other programs provided locally and statewide.  We provide A LOT of informational brochures & printouts, calendars, notebooks, mail-out packets and more.  To do all of this, we go through a lot of office supplies like pens, markers, highlighters, paper, cards, envelopes, paperclips, folders, ink, stamps (YES - SNAIL MAIL!) etc.

Rapid Relocation

This program is dedicated to assisting survivors in need of emergency relocation.  We currently have a need for Volunteer packers, movers, cleaners and supplies.  This is a service we provide less frequently, however when it is needed it is typically an emergency and we are called for assistance with very little notice.  Volunteers need to be able and willing to respond to the call for help virtually 24/7.  If this could be problematic for your home/personal life, please consider donating in another way.

The services of packing, moving and cleaning are extremely limited and are rendered for windows of time that are determined based on many factors, primarily following risk & safety assessments.  Our main objective is to get our target subjects out safely and to a secure location with as many essential items as possible.  Ideally, we love to see as many clients as possible & if applicable, their children make it to their new destination with a few comforts of home intact and ready to be unpacked, although this is not always possible.  If all we do is get someone out, WE DID IT!

Additionally, if there is time and the assessment rates high for safety, we have a follow up team that is able to come into the home after a certain window of time has passed since our initial departure and clean.  This is not an extensive cleaning service.  (This applies only to rental situations.) Our goal, if possible is to target any areas of the home that might have otherwise been charged a fee or been penalized upon relocation to ease the financial burden of our clients.  If we can remedy any areas through cleanliness, light furniture or trash removal that will avoid fees we try our best.

Monetary donations are also appreciated to help with the costs of supplies, "starter home kits" for a relocated family like basic toiletries, paper goods, cleaning supplies, groceries and other essentials that may be necessary for the first few nights, and sometimes a special toy for children involved in the relocation.
